listen to that sound

makes sense yeah yeah well done well done good yeah you got it move this out the way out are you happy with that there no it's helpful now is it helpful though yeah yeah

how much more consistent is that yes yeah yeah the managers are good well that's that's still a slightly out to win path right okay so we're slightly slightly out to win right so all that basically means is it's what I would do is what could you change in the setup to get that ball going a little bit out to the right maybe bring my wrap up like a little no we're not we did we've never changed alignment oh okay yeah we never not with what we've been doing so far what would we do what could we change um well the mom Charles and I'm not on sort of a bit further but further to the right exactly exactly that that's gonna if you do that think of it this way if your path is this way what can we do shift your swing Circle yeah from here yeah to here there you go that's it yeah without changing there you go right now now again from now to December move the shoulder to here

Watch What Happens now there you go now look you've just changed it straight away wow yes you see that yeah yeah it's always a slight movement yeah yeah yeah it set up the key isn't it massive absolutely massive your most people's shot shape and strike yeah predetermined at setup you're right and don't get me wrong you can set up badly but then you're having a fight and work you really hard to try to get it back online and that's why we all hit and miss hit Miss yeah it must be inconsistent because they never address the ball yeah in the same way every time yeah sure so so man is sort of we're going to shift you so with your swing circles over here so we're going to just with the Torso and there you go we're shifting over here but then now look we're going to move the center of your shoulders to here

foreign

Ed out those numbers yeah and still got your carry up yeah yeah easy isn't it yeah yeah well she was easy

there you go look at the ship on that now so you so you are can you see how quickly you're changing the ship yeah of your shot yeah it's quite dramatic isn't it yeah down the ball too far back instead of that that's it so we're gonna get a swing Circle here and then you just take your time the left shoulder moves to here and wait on a little bit yeah just relax just close up there's a little bit there you go that's it

beautiful draw look at that shape now yeah isn't it beautiful yeah so what I'm noticing if we want to get like loads more power out of this what I'm noticing is that you asked which is understandable because you've been trying to kind of get this pattern right now but sometimes what you're doing is you're steering the club a little bit now if you look it's the difference with someone like myself you'll hear a real noise in the club listen yeah but it doesn't look like I'm probably trying to hit it that hard no I don't yeah so how am I creating that noise notice the difference in this

yeah that's one noise yeah listen to this

yeah what's the difference what can you what could what do you see everything is going through in one there's no snap is there no snow so it would be it would be like cracking a towel going yeah it's like one it's like one motion yeah so what we want to do is we want the bigger muscles yeah we to control it so when I'm swinging when I when I want you swing the club back here it's I could we don't throw a ball like this no we let our arm go we let our torso go we swing the arm back we use the bigger muscles and then suddenly we then fire it yeah through yeah I want to get I want to have that image in your mind yeah you're fading through from this position

it just drops naturally and then you wash only because the ball's there yeah at the end of the day why do we why when you see someone throw a ball do they not look like this no this because this is where they're gonna release it yeah yeah so in your mind take that image of snap so I want you to keep that in that that sense that sound that feeling of snap yes

but we do that again this time move your left shoulder to here and create a snap yes yeah got it that's it and and as you're doing this let's now do it let's now add movement to the to the to how you approach it so get a sense of that's it feel when it will feel when the snap is now snap a bit early see what that feels like now snap a bit later yeah I feel if once something feels awkward something feels wrong doesn't it yeah yeah got it right without snap you have no distance whatsoever

then the only thing you've got ourselves like that then the only thing you have to ask yourself is is this what are you snapping with if you don't move so what happens is you can create a snap just doing what you did in the early early part which is this yeah just with your arms you've got to add this patterning you've got to use that left shoulder so you add the left shoulder in and now we've got the bigger muscles here look too snap yeah yeah if I was you know we playing a tug of war yeah yeah I could hold that yeah and I did what you did earlier I've only got arm power yeah but if I move that left shoulder look around here there yeah now look I've got leg power torso power that's going to help me create some more snap yeah yeah that's why we love the power in the backswing yeah just just for yourself don't worry about where the ball goes so we need when we do developing power we're still going to preset the swing Circle yeah yeah so preset it yeah preset it your miles away there you go look at the cafe yeah look how fat yeah we're exaggerating remember yeah okay now from here now from that position create some snap foreign

yeah that was easy wasn't it yeah yeah effortless effortless power you notice what I had to do here I had to come in and preset the swing Circle yeah and I had to do notice what I'm doing when I do this your what your your right shoulder is much close to the shaft than your left one was yes we're presetting That Swing Circle for you in an exaggerated way yeah for you basically I'm here yes that's exaggerated yeah yeah yeah because you slice it too much and they'll create snap

away

now comfortably you're averaging now 113 115 yeah yeah right let's get you over 120. that's the girl and oh and the way you go over 120 keep that left shoulder moving yeah so that's strange enough it's often more distance often feels more effortless yeah so left shoulder moves to here snap

116 almost 117 now this is really consistent every shot is shaping exactly the same way yeah yeah good that sounded lovely

123 yards carry look at them if we look at this here now and that's a total difference 137.8 yards with a seven iron yeah yeah and all we're doing is applying the correct swing Circle not just in in this club but also now in your shoulders there's storing energy yeah add this snap to that and hey prester you carry bit by bit is gradually going up yeah

foreign

that's awesome I mean it's just so consistent you're getting beautiful numbers a beautiful draw yeah we're a comfortably of a 121. that's great well I will always thrilled with that now well we look at this here look your total distance is 135 yards with it with a seven iron yeah it's cut it's easy and over over time I feel as I can increase that yeah well what you've done is it was it was about two three weeks ago we had the session yeah you're now getting you're now getting a consistent pattern we've now managed to increase your distance yeah look so you're starting to get a snap yeah you're building and this is what goes like you're not going to get you know we've got probably people watching them it's probably worth finishing this a lot of times when people come for a lesson you know that you're we're often thinking it's going to be a magic cure and hey pressure you're going to grab it it's going to take time you're gonna you can't it's not like changing a light bulb no click no you can't it's gonna it's gonna take some time and dad had a phone call with me after session out on the golf course and one thing he found was that he said it's I made some really good shots Danny but it's not as consistent as like today we've risen that consistency does that mean he's going to go on the golf course and be amazing tomorrow of course not he's probably gonna hit more good shots tomorrow but he's still going to have that leveling of inconsistency oh yeah so I hope you enjoyed this video thanks again come and join us we invited him down for uh impromptu really wasn't it it was okay but if you if you haven't seen the video of my dad with uh the driver and his eyes and uh I did a couple weeks ago check this one out a drive video out here and iron video here we've also got an updated driver video which we're going to be launching very very soon I'll probably put that out next week but if you enjoyed the video give it a thumbs up maybe share it with a friend of course look if you're new to channel press that subscribe button right here and I'll see you next week.

Transcript Summary -

In this golf lesson, we worked with my dad to improve his golf swing, particularly by focusing on proper shoulder movement during the backswing. It's crucial to understand that incorrect shoulder movement can lead to a loss of distance and inconsistency in ball striking. In the video, we first addressed accuracy and strike, and later, we aimed to boost power. If you're new to the channel, consider subscribing, as we share videos like this every week to help improve your game.

The issue we identified at the beginning was my dad's limited shoulder movement during the backswing. This caused him to swing primarily with his hands and arms, resulting in a loss of power and an improper ball strike. We emphasized the need to create a circle with the shoulders, utilizing the hips and the entire torso in the swing. My dad had been relying solely on his hands and arms, and that's what we wanted to change. The center of the circle for his swing was crucial, and we needed to focus on that, rather than getting cramped in his movements.

We advised my dad to think of the center of his circle being around the left shoulder. By doing this, he could pivot around this point and, in turn, improve his flexibility and rotation. This adjustment not only elevated the club but also facilitated a smoother, more powerful swing. My dad hadn't been turning enough, which was impacting his striking ability. The left arm, acting as the radius of the swing, should be maintained throughout the entire motion. This ensures a wide and consistent circle, compared to the narrower one he was generating with just his hands and arms.

We practiced moving the left shoulder to a specific point during the backswing, maintaining the circle's integrity. This adjustment helped him create a more consistent and accurate strike. My dad quickly noticed the improvements in his accuracy and consistency. The key takeaway here is that setup plays a massive role in determining shot shape and strike. By addressing setup, you can significantly enhance your game's consistency.

As we moved forward to increase power, we emphasized the importance of using the bigger muscles and generating snap. The snap creates the sound you hear when a club makes contact with the ball. It's essential to allow the arms and torso to work in harmony to create that snap. Presetting the swing circle is crucial, and we practiced doing so in an exaggerated manner to combat a slice. My dad's swing began to develop more power, and he quickly saw improvements in his distance.

We discussed the concept of snap and how it's all about using the bigger muscles. In the final part of the lesson, my dad was consistently hitting shots over 120 yards with a 7-iron, which is a significant improvement. The more snap he added to his swing, the more effortless and powerful it became. By maintaining this consistency and gradually building on it, my dad can continue to enhance his game.

The lesson concluded with a reminder that golf improvement is a process that takes time. Consistency will develop over time, and while my dad's performance on the golf course might improve, there will still be moments of inconsistency. The key is to keep practicing and refining these techniques to gradually see more consistent and powerful results.
